- Review of past season
i. Regular season - once weather improved games went okay and majority got rescheduled. Demosphere was okay, could have been better some frustrations by everyone. Scheduling of home teams and away fields needs to be improved on for next year. Will look at different scheduling software with greater control for 2010 season. One request that we schedule the 3 rd and 4 th grade teams at regular times to accommodate players that play 2 sports.
ii. Festival - great weather and lots of fun
iii. 6 th Grade All Stars will play in Vail.
iv. We have several related issues impacting our ability to provide a positive youth sports environment. They are: officiating, coaching, fan behavior, and sportsmanship.
- Official's Fee increase - will have more information in the Fall.
- Solicit input from Admins present
Widely shared in the view that education of parents and coaches was urgent.
There was a discussion of officials and use of junior officials and official training.
Suggested that officials participate in post game hand shake line and discuss rules/infractions with coaches at half-time.
Some clubs did not provide sideline manager, not informed that both teams provide one sideline manager each.
Revisit the one junior official for ¾ games. Recommended by some that we have 2 officials at all times for training as well as safety. This will increase costs for those teams.
Extended discussion on training officials to use the yellow and red cards more and to take greater control of the game and the coaches.
Discussion on numerous coaches that did not know the rules and were not knowledgeable about the girl's game and how to manage coaches that do not come to training. In general the policy of not scheduling teams with coaches that don't come to training was supported by the admins. Some coaches were observed being verbally abusive to players, the need to report this back to the Club admins was stressed.
Coaches intimidation of the officials transfers down to the parents - need to train coaches to train/control parents.
There was strong support for a zero tolerance policy for coaches and parent misbehavior.
- VP Report
- Merchandise/Festival results - suggestions on how to schedule parent volunteers for the festival to get more help.
- Treasurer's Report
- Budget - changed software full report in the fall.
- Kim Wallace Report from CWLOA:
Four 6 th grade teams were repeat offenders towards refs. Need to use the yellow and red card procedures more and remove coaches from games if given a red card.
We need more adult officials to work with the youth and to help train parents and coaches.
Refs will come do a rules interpretation for a team or Club for $25.
